Custom attributes
A custom attribute is an extra field of your own, for information that Quiddly has no field for. An example is the customer number a partner uses for a client. You define the attribute once, and then give it a value on each client, invoice or debtor it applies to.
Create a custom attribute
Section titled “Create a custom attribute”Go to Global Settings > General > Custom Attributes. The table lists the attributes with their Attribute name and Level.
-
Press Custom attribute below the table.
-
Enter the Attribute name.
-
In Level(s) choose where the attribute is used: Client, Invoice, Debtor and System Debtor. You can choose several.
-
Set up the input field. Choose the Value type and give the field a Value name.
-
Press Save.
| Value type | What the user does | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Types any value. Each client, invoice or debtor holds its own value. | Identifiers that are different for every client, such as a partner’s customer number. |
| Dropdown | Picks one of the values you listed. Press Add value to add more. | A short fixed list. A dropdown holds at most six values. |
- An attribute can have up to three input fields, added with Add input field while you create it.
- After you save an attribute you cannot change the value type or the values of its input fields, and you cannot add input fields. To use other values, create a new attribute.
Set the value on a client
Section titled “Set the value on a client”-
Open the client and expand Custom Attributes.
-
Press Custom attribute.
-
Choose the Attribute. The list contains the attributes that have the level Client.
-
Enter or choose the value and press Save.
The section lists each attribute with its Value and Date. Use the icons on a row to change or delete the value. The same section exists on invoices, debtors and system debtors that have attributes with the matching level.
Rights needed
Section titled “Rights needed”Setting attributes on a client needs rights on your role:
- To see the attributes in the Attribute list, the role needs the right to search the attribute definitions. Without it the list is empty, and the field looks as if no attribute exists.
- To read, add, change and delete the values on a client, the role needs the matching client label rights.
- Creating, changing and deleting the attributes themselves under Global Settings needs the corresponding label rights too.
See Rights, roles and users and the rights catalogue for the exact rights.
